Why “Minecraft” is the greatest game of all time

In my mind, Minecraft is the greatest game of all time, if not at least top five.

I’m not normally one to argue this kind of thing, and frankly, you are entitled to your own opinion. Looking purely at the numbers, it just makes sense. It is the best selling game of all time, outselling some of even the most renowned games such as Grand Theft Auto 5 and Tetris. Beyond the numbers, however, there is so much more to unpack. Minecraft is, at its core, a sandbox game. It’s hard to find something you can’t do in Minecraft at this point, whether that be using the vanilla game to its fullest, or adding and coding a crazy ton of mods that completely change its complexity. Want to have a standard survival experience? It’s got that. Want to release your creativity and make a huge build but not have to worry about any survival aspects? It’s got that. Want to play an infinite amount of custom minigames with friends across a wide array of multiplayer servers? Oh yeah, it’s got that too. It’s the sheer range of the game that makes it so impressive. While more recent updates have been somewhat controversial and lacking in the eyes of various players, the potential of the game’s use has only increased over time and new stuff keeps coming out day after day.
